The Planning Department and the Environmental Team are hosting a free plant giveaway on Thursday, June 20, starting at 9:30am at the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College’s Parking Lot (5805 E. Pickard St.). The event will last until 2:30pm or until trees are gone.
As a community, we can work together to plant native species to improve Tribal land and water health by providing habitat for wildlife, improving air quality, capturing and purifying stormwater runoff, and reducing climate change impacts while also promoting community involvement and environmental awareness.
The 2024 Plant Giveaway List includes the following species: Black Elderberry, Buttonbush, Chokeberry, Staghorn Sumac, Gray Dogwood, Highbush Cranberry, Ninebark, Red Osier Dogwood, Sandbar Willow, Silky Dogwood, Snowberry, Sweetshrub, and Winterberry.
*Each plant order is limited to 15 per person & you cannot request more than 5 of each species - first come first serve, orders will not be held.
