The SCIT Afterschool Program youth are having a blast during our "Fall Frolic" festivities. With the help of the Tribal departments (Maintenance, Library, Behavioral Health and 7th Generation), the students are embracing the season. Elder Willie Bailey mounted the Seven Grandfather teachings over the "cubbies" while Library staffer Brenda Walker and Prevention Specialist Maryann Heintzelman provided beading and craft activities with cultural teachings. Seventh Generation Director Ben Hinmon donated organic decorations from the garden while Chef Kevin and an eager Zheesheeb made sure the hot dogs and Angus burgers were up to standards. Tomorrow is Michigan Indian Day and as a friendly reminder, the Afterschool Program train is running as scheduled from 3:30 to 6pm. Please don't forget "Run on the Rez" this Saturday with registration in the Eagles Nest Tribal Gym (race starts promptly at 10am).
