Allen Craig “Sparky” Chippeway, 44, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, March 22, 2010 at his residence.
Funeral services for Allen will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 26th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Owen White-Pigeon officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Rosebush. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 24th from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, March 25th from 5-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.
Allen was born on October 6, 1965 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Lester Donald, Sr. and Mary Lynne (Quigno) Chippeway. He worked for the Soaring Eagle Casino (gaming/slot manager) for 17 years. Allen was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, the Chippewa Indian Methodist Church, and the American Legion. He enjoyed hanging out with friends and family and making people laugh.
Allen is survived by his children, Daniel Joseph Bennett, Sr., Samantha Jo Chippeway (Jason Rose), and Gary Allen Chippeway, Sr. (Bobbi Fair), all of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren, Daniel Bennett, Jr., Devyn Bennett, Dylan Bennett, Kadenn "Caveman" Rose, Kaya "Krya" Rose, Kaden "Redman" Fair, Mya "Baby Cho" Chippeway, and Gary "C.J." Chippeway, Jr.; brothers, Brian (Julie) Chippeway and Lester Chippeway, Jr., both of Mt. Pleasant; and sister, Melissa "Zulu" Chippeway of Mt. Pleasant.
Allen was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony "Quickdraw" Chippeway in 2003 and Sean "Buddah" Chippeway in 2007; and nephew, Lyle Bennett in 2003.
