Mildred Marion Strothers, 66, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Woodland Hospice House.
Funeral services for Mildred will be held at the Indian Methodist Church in Oscoda on Friday, April 9th at 1 p.m. with Rev. William Stone officiating. Interment will follow in the Oscoda Indian Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 8th from 2-7 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant and on Friday, April 9th from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and church.
Mildred was born on October 5, 1943 in Oscoda, the daughter of Lawrence and Clara (Bennett) Nahgahgwon. Mildred was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and member of the Indian Methodist Church in Oscoda and attended the Saginaw Chippewa Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Mildred enjoyed playing slots at the casino, doing bead work, traveling, collecting Elvis memorabilia, garage sales, camp meetings, and spending time with her grandson.
Mildred is survived by her children, Gilbert (Tracy Fancon) Williams of Clare, Marion Joseph of Mt. Pleasant, and David (Karen) Williams of Mt. Pleasant; grandson, Tanner Williams of Mt. Pleasant; granddaughter, Kylie Fancon of Clare; brothers, Lawrence Nahgahgwon of Mt. Pleasant, Richard Nahgahgwon of Hale, Gerald (April) Nahgahgwon of Bay City, and Ernest (Beverly) Nahgahgwon of Oscoda; sisters, Marlene (Carl) Garlick of Washington, Ethel Lingford of Wisconsin, Laura (Gary) Schaad of Washington, and Viola Nahgahgwon of Tawas, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Harold and Arnold.
