Robert Leo Chamberlain
Robert Leo Chamberlain, Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010 at his home after a long battle with illness, surrounded by his family. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on May 30, 1941 the son of Thomas and Leona (Davis) Chamberlain Sr. He is survived by his daughters, Darlene Highley and her husband James "Butch", Debbie Marler and her husband Tony, Dianna Chamberlain, Brenda Champlin and her husband Rex, eleven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. One brother Alvin Chamberlain, four sisters, Marilyn Sprague and her husband Richard, Alfreda Mandoka and her husband Keith, Juanita Slater, and Esther Chatfield and her husband Wallace. Robert worked many years as a roofer, and in his later years as a security guard for the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort, from which he retired with a disability. He was a lifelong member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. He was married to Sally A. Stowe before her death. He was a member of the Moose Club and the national Roofers Union, Local #149.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally, his son, Robert Jr., his parents, Thomas and Leona Chamberlain, his brother Thomas Jr., his sisters, Margaret Sowmick and Joyce Francis, grandchildren, Jimmie Floyd, Frankie and Lee Davis, brothers in law, Arnold Sowmick, John Williams and Chuck Slater, niece, Meghann Williams and nephews, Todd Chamberlain and Jamie Slater
Funeral Services for Robert will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June 9, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Doyle Perry of the Faith Indian Nazarene Church officiating. Interment will follow in Denver Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 7, from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, June 8, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
