Foster Edward Hall, 74, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Funeral services for Foster will be held at the Chippewa Indian Methodist Church on Friday, October 1st at 11 a.m. with Rev. Marshall Collins and Rev. Owen White-Pigeon officiating. Interment will follow in the Star City Cemetery in Merritt, MI. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday, September 30th from 1-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nimkee Health Clinic. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Clark Family Funeral Chapel.
Foster was born on September 9, 1936 in Merritt, MI, the son of David and Mabel (Pewash) Hall. Foster worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. He also served as the fire chief for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe for many years, as well as driving truck. Foster was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and served on the Tribal Council as Chaplin from 1986-1987 and as Sergeant at Arms from 1988-1989. He was also a member of the Chippewa Indian Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Foster is survived by his children, Carol (Owen) White-Pigeon, Foster "Sonny" Hall, Jr., Carla (Stan) Sineway, Connie (Lewis) Sprague, and Roberta Starkey (John Jackson), all of Mt. Pleasant; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and brother, Leroy Hall (Pat Sam) of Grawn, MI.
Foster was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Betsey Mae Hall in 2000; son, Timothy Hall; daughter, Karen Hall; step-daughter, Valerie Esperza; Grandson, Don Jeffrey; and brothers, Cornelius, Spencer, Galen, and Isaac.
