Kelly Ann David, 41, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, November 5, 2010 at Central Michigan Community Hospital as a result of an automobile accident.
Funeral services for Kelly will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, November 10th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Richard Boyce officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodland Cemetery in Rosebush. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 9th after 2 p.m. with a wake service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Kelly's children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Kelly was born on December 28, 1968 in Bellflower, CA, the daughter of George and Emma (Peters) Slater. She was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and had worked at the Soaring Eagle Casino at the table games and as a concierge. She attended college for two years as a Native American Studies major. Kelly also worked as a hair stylist. She sang with a women's group and performed as a traditional dancer for the tribe. Kelly enjoyed sewing, Native American arts and crafts, and bargain shopping.
Kelly is survived by her significant other, Ruben Blackcloud; children, Maxamillion Barnett and Shyanne Pego of Mt. Pleasant; brothers, Allen Slater, Gerald Slater, George Slater, and Maynard Sharp; sisters, Helen Reed, Sharon Matthews, Bonnie Cantu, Colleen Sisco, Mary Johnson, Tina Montoya, and Carrie Farr.
Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, George and Emma Slater; biological mother, Lorraine Kennedy; sister, Sandra Boyce; nephew, Jeremy Slater; and great-nephew, Skylar Ray Slater Bennett.
