Ruby Ellen Wetherell, 75, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011 at her home
Funeral services for Ruby will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, March 8th at 1 p.m. with Pastor Doyle Perry officiating. Interment will follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lansing. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6th and Monday, March 7th from 2-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 8th from 12 noon until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodland Hospice and the Nami Migizi Nangwiihgan Shelter for domestic violence at the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Ruby was born on April 25, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant, MI the daughter of Clayton, Sr. and Minnie (Crampton) Jackson. She married Emerson Wetherell, who preceded her in death, and she worked as a homemaker. Ruby was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and enjoyed traveling, casino gambling, and collecting turtles. She was very active in the South Dakota Angel Tree Program and sponsored several children every year.
Ruby is survived by her children, Jody Clark and her 3 children and 5 grandchildren and Lu Ann Phillips and her 5 children, 14 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, plus 3 step-daughters and 4 step-grandchildren; her mother, Minnie Jackson of Mt. Pleasant; and special friends, Mike and Kim Elliott of Mt. Pleasant.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Emerson; father, Clayton Jackson, Sr.; brother, Clayton Jackson, Jr.; and sister, Eliza Bonnie Jackson.
