Joseph Henry, 26, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at his home.
His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home, 2300 S. Lincoln Road. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3-6 & 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Henry Family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Joe was born Feb. 14, 1985, in Genesee County, the son of Dennis Dee and Nancy Lee (Davis) Henry. He married Cecilia Jackson on July 3, 2006, in Fennville. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2004 and was honorably discharged in 2010 with the rank of Sgt. He was a member of the Saginaw-Chippewa Indian Tribe and enjoyed the outdoors; camping, hunting, canoeing and skateboarding. Some of his other favorite pastimes included singing and playing the guitar, video games and staying physically fit. Joe was a very intelligent and artistic person. A dedicated father, Joe loved his family more than anything.
Joe is survived by his wife, Cecilia and their children, Thomas, Kyla and Emma; his mother, Nancy Lee Henry (Wyman Chippewa) of Rosebush; father, Dennis Dee Henry of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Quadakos Carana Davis of Flint and Ramona Dee Henry of Lansing; nieces and nephews, Cheyanne Lou Davis, Ayanna Lee Thompson, Niij-Zhik John Davis Quintero, Kenai Michael Thompson, Waasnodeh Kwe Davis Hernandez, T.J. Meija, Arionna Meija, Sedona Meija, Makayla Jackson, Jonna Meija, Matthew Jackson Jr. and Lucas Jackson; parents-in-law, Delmar and Mary Jackson of Mt. Pleasant; brothers-in-law, Tony Meija, Matthew Jackson Sr. and Samuel Jackson, all of Mt. Pleasant; grandparents-in-law, Delmar Sr. and Julia Jackson of Mt. Pleasant and Karen Jackson of Mt. Pleasant; and many aunts, uncles and cousins, including his special cousin, Amy Hinton and her family. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John B. and Irene Davis; paternal grandparents, Edward and Mary Henry; and his aunt, Catherine Cates.
