Francis Davis, age 80, died Thursday, May 5, 2011
at Central Michigan Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral service will be held 1p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor Larry Survance officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation 3-8p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Francis was born in Saginaw on June 11, 1930, the son of Frank and Nancy (Williams) Davis and was a resident of Flint most of his life. After graduating high school, he attended Haskell College, then hired into General Motors. Mr. Davis was employed by GM, Chevrolet Manufacturing and Fisher Guide for 40 years. Mr. Davis enjoyed his retirement. Mr. Davis had a religious "Calvary" radio program and for a time also with WFUR in Grand Rapids, he also did testimonials through the radio station, and on the internet. He was a member of Forgotten Man Ministries for Prisons and Jails and volunteered through the Kentwood Sheriff Department. Francis traveled through many countries, the most precious travel was Hawaii when he took Terry with him. He joined the Arthur Murray Dance Studio, receiving many awards, including trips to Las Vegas, Chicago, New York and Hollywood. He also held a Black Belt in Karate. He absolutely loved his life and enjoyed telling his stories, laughing and teasing. Daughter Terry said in Francis' last minutes of his life, he was surrounded by true love, happiness, a moment we can cherish forever.
Surviving are children, Terry, Kevin, Linda and Brenda; Grandchildren, Crystal Davis, Carrie Carabell, Shandon Davis of Mt. Pleasant, Zackery Davis of Flint, Becky, Harvey, Elijah and Rachel Davis, Jewel, Joshua Frank Davis Hugg; Great-grandchildren, Dakota, Landen and Issac Preston, Daniel Joe and Monica; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Edward Harris and David Estep. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Hinton-Owl, Frank Davis, brother, John Davis and wife Irene Davis, first wife Willodean Davis and 2nd wife, Gladys Davis.
