Josephine E Jackson, 76, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Funeral Services for Josephine will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Owen White-Pigeon officiating. Interment will follow in Chippewa Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 22nd from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral chapel. A prayer service for Josephine will be held on Thursday, March 22nd at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Honor Guard. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel
Josephine was born on December 23, 1935 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Thomas and Beatrice (Davis) Pierce. She married Willis Jackson on January 25, 1954 in Mt. Pleasant. Josephine worked for the State of Michigan in the Vocational Rehabilitation services. She was General Manager of the Soaring Eagle Casino in the early 1980's. Josephine was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, American Legion Women's Auxiliary and the Tomah Club. She enjoyed playing the slots.
Josephine is survived by her children, Guy Jackson; Janet Jackson-Barnhart; Orville Jackson and Mary (Timothy Prescott) Jackson all of Mt. Pleasant; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; brothers, Larry (Vickie) Pelcher and Harry (Denise) Pelcher both of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Bevverly Vasquez; Helen (Julius) Peters; Sue (William) Durfee and Ruth Moses all of Mt. Pleasant.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Jackson in 2010; sons, Barry in 1980 and Jeffrey in 2009 and her sister, Caroline in 2007.
