District 1 and 3 candidates set for Nov. 8 general election; protests expected to be filed

All nine District 1 incumbents will be on the general election ballot after slightly more than half of the registered voters whittled the choices from 57 to 20 on
Oct. 11.
Timothy Davis, who has served on several Tribal Councils, was the election's top vote getter with 203. Of the 809 registered voters in the district, 439 participated in the primary election for a 54 percent turnout. Results are unofficial and there is a seven-day protest period before they are certified. Several protests are expected to be filed over the election.
Incumbent Chief Audrey Falcon (190), Sub-Chief Bernard Sprague (173), Secretary Ruth Moses (192), Treasurer Charmaine Benz (173), as well as representatives Federico Cantu Jr. (177), Brent Jackson (172), Diana Quigno-Grundahl (170), Michael Floyd Sr. (160) and Delmar Jackson Sr. (155) all were among the top 20 vote-getters.
Also making the Nov. 8 ballot are: Jeanette Leaureaux (179), Darryl Clifford Jackson (169), Milton Pelcher (165), Lorna Call (162), Adelaide Davis (157), Maynard Kahgegab (154), Delores Jackson (152), Raymond "Archie" Davis (145), as well as Lindy Hunt and Josephine Jackson, each with 144.
District 3 incumbent Michele Stanley received the most votes in At-Large with 278. She was followed by Frank Cloutier (169), Bonnie Ekdahl (145), Greg Falsetta (144), Damian Fisher (104) and Raul Venegas Sr. (83). The top five vote-getters will appear on the District 3 ballot for the Nov. 8 general election.
There were 1,226 voters eligible to vote in the Oct. 11 primary election with 422 ballots cast for a 34 percent turnout.
There is only one District 3 (Saganing) candidate-Ronald Nelson. His name will automatically appear on the general election ballot.
