The Tribal Council is committed to keeping the Reservation a clean and sanitary place for its members, employees and guests. To that end, they have decided to provide curbside trash pick up, as a free service, for the members living on lease lots and HUD lots.
Each residential dwelling has received one, 96-gallon trash receptacle. Each household will be responsible to make sure their trash is placed in the receptacle and is at the curb, on Wednesdays prior to 6 a.m. for garbage pick up. No collection of refuse will be made on Sundays, New Years' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day. When a holdiay(s) fall on or before the regular collection day, refuse will be collected one day later. In addition, one large/bulky household item per week will be collected.
Examples of large/bulky items include a furniture item, an appliance, water heater, washer, dryer, dry carpeting cut into four foot lengths or less, tied and securely bundled, construction material cut into four foot lengths or less, tied and securely bundled. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Waste Management is not required to collect or dispose of car tires, unless they are cut in half.
Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners must have the freon removed by an authorized agent and tagged or Waste Management will not pick them up. In lieu of one big item, each home may place an additional three (3) garbage bags on the curbside for pickup that week.
If you have questions about the curbside trash collection service you may call the planning department (989) 775-4014 or Waste Management's Customer Service Center (800) 796-9696.
