In recognition of World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, the Nimkee Memorial Wellness Center is offering a walk-in clinic from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

If you have ever wondered if you have HIV or are concerned about someone in your past, we invite you to get an HIV test.

Please do not be afraid, many people simply want a test just to make sure they are safe.

If you are wondering if you should get a test, following are risk factors that you may need a test:

-If you have ever had unprotected sex;

-Have ever shared needles to inject drugs, vitamins, or for tattooing or piercing;

-Have ever had sex with an intravenous drug user;

-Have had sex with someone who has had sex with someone else;

-Have been sexually assaulted;

-Have had a sexually transmitted disease; or

-You want piece of mind.

The test requires two visits. During the first session you will meet briefly with a counselor and a small amount of blood will be taken from your arm.

We are not allowed to give you your results over the phone-therefore, you will need to come back on a second visit to get your results.

This service is available to CHS eligible patients of the Nimkee clinic.

To verify if you are Contract Health eligible, or if you would like to be, call the Nimkee Clinic Patient Registration at (989) 775-4600.

If you are interested in learning more about the HIV Anti-body test, contact (989) 775-4649.

If you would like a test and Dec. 1 does not fit into your schedule, we will be happy to set up an appointment for you.
