Membership elects new Tribal Council

A special run-off election for a District 1 seat on Tribal Council has been scheduled for Nov. 29 between candidates Lorna Call and Jeanette Leaureaux.
The pair each received 245 votes in the Nov. 8 general election, thus tying for 10th place. Of the 12 seats on Tribal Council, 10 belong to District 1.
Eight incumbents were returned to office, including Chief Audrey Falcon (268), Sub-Chief Bernie Sprague (253), Secretary Ruth Moses (278) and District 1 Representatives Federico Cantu Jr. (264), Brent Jackson (248), Delmar Jackson Sr. (299) and Diana Quigno-Grundahl (264), as well as District 3 (At-Large) Representative Michele Stanley (287).
Also elected to Tribal Council from District 1 are Adelaide Davis (254) and Timothy Davis (267).
District 2 (Saganing) candidate Ronald Nelson ran unopposed and garnered 23 votes from the area's 41 registered voters.
Of the 810 registered voters in the district, 525 participated in the general election for a 65 percent turnout. Results are unofficial and there is a three-business day protest period before they are certified as being official.
For District 3, there were 1,226 voters eligible to vote, with 584 casting ballots for a 48 percent turnout.
Unofficial results from the Nov. 8 general election are as follows for District 1: Delmar Jackson Sr. (299); Moses (278), Falcon (268); Timothy Davis (267) Cantu and Quigno-Grundahl (264 each); Adelaide Davis (254); Sprague (253); Brent Jackson (248); Call and Leaureaux (245 each); incumbent Treasurer Charmaine Benz (240); Darryl Clifford Jackson and incumbent Michael Floyd Sr. (226 each); Milton Pelcher (225); Lindy Hunt (222); Josephine Jackson (214); Maynard Kahgegab Jr. (210), Raymond "Archie" Davis (206) and Delores Jackson (203).
District 3 results included: Stanley (287); Frank Cloutier (137); Bonnie Ekdahl (60); Greg Falsetta (59) and Damian Fisher (41).
