MPHS Oilers take District Title

In an effort to provide regular bonus coverage throughout the month, Team Observer joins with Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe LEAD department in recognizing the Mt. Pleasant Oilers football team as they continue their march to Ford Field and the Michigan State Championship. The Oilers captured the Division Three District Title by downing the Blue Devils of Sault Ste. Marie 42-27. Tribal community members playing for MPHS Varsity (including JV who moved up for playoffs) are: Gage Colwell, Makyo George-Dye, Joe Genia, Jon Curtiss, Ethan Hunt, Kaleb Perry, Tyler Jackson, Milan Quigno-Grundahl, Anthony Lerma and Colin Foster. The fourth ranked Oilers are now 10-1 on the season. Next game is this Saturday, Nov. 16 against the 10-1 Dux of Zeeland West, who downed defending State champion Grand Rapids Christian last weekend by a score of 48-35. Tailgates start at noon with kickoff at Community Municipal Stadium in Mt. Pleasant at 2pm
