In an effort to provide bonus coverage, Team Observer joins with the Nimkee Public Health & Fitness and the Central Michigan District Health Department in support of their 5K “Glow Run” Wednesday, October 8th.

Nimkee Public Health Educator Robyn Grinzinger was all smiles as the event and the participants basked in the warm glow of giving back to a worthy cause.

 

“It was a great event! The day may have been a little chilly as everyone arrived bundled up at Island Park; but as soon as WCFX got the music going and the crowd gathered ‘all a-glow’ that feeling of cold was gone,” Grinzinger chimed.   “All runners and walkers arrived in some form of glow attire, but that didn’t stop everyone from adding more. Everyone was attaching glow items to their heads, arms, & legs. They had flashing rings, flashing hats, adding glow items and glow tape to their pant legs and shoes. Some made glow eye glass, head bands and earrings, the possibilities were endless.  As soon as it was dark, it was time to begin. It was awesome to see as all the runners ‘glowing’ in many different colors as they sped away on the path and over the bridges with glows stick lining the route!”

 

The Central Michigan District Health Department 5K Glow Run marks the 5th year of a fundraiser event to support HIV/AIDS education and bring awareness to this chronic disease. This was the first year doing a night glow run, and the planning is very happy with the turnout.   Nimkee Fitness Coordinator Jayme Green informs the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness endorsed the competitive 5K chip timed run/5K walk.

 

 

“On behalf of Nimkee Fitness, we would like to offer a special thanks to all the braved the cold and  who came out and participated in the event,” Green explains.  “From those people that volunteered, and for those that stood on the sidelines and cheered everyone on, it was truly a team event.  Thanks to everyone for glowing it up for a great cause!”
