Water donation helps City of Flint 10-07-15

In an effort to provide bonus coverage, Team Observer applauds the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe in providing disaster relief as 24,000 bottles of water made their way to the City of Flint on Oct. 7.  The joint interdepartmental operation included the Soaring Eagle Water Park and Hotel and the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort. 

 

SECR Director of Marketing and Entertainment Raul Venegas and Fredrick Kuhlman, Marketing Manager for the Soaring Eagle Water Park and Hotel drove the donation to Flint with assistance of SCIT Distribution Center Inventory Control Drivers Ernest Robison, Norman Joaquin Cyr and Rudy Escamilla.  “It was a true team efforts and we are very happy to be able to make a contribution toward alleviating the current water situation in the city of Flint,” Venegas said.

 

Kuhlman made the initial outreach on behalf of the Tribe to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan’s director, Kara Ross and they have agreed to accept the 1000 cases of bottled water. 

 

Tribal Chief Steve Pego and Tribal Council were very supportive of the idea and the willingness of all the departments working together for the families of Flint.  “The main focus of this donation is to bring relief to the people of Flint and perhaps make a difference with the gift of (Biish) water”, Chief Pego said.

 

In a facebook post that went viral nationally, consumer advocate and environmental activist Erin Brockovich commended the effort, saying “People help people … thank you, Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe!”
