Education powwow welcomes area schools

In an effort to provide bonus coverage, Team Observer joins with local Native youth and the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Education Department in celebration of their annual Education Powwow for area schools.
Youth Leadership Manager Deb Smith informs the K-12 staff has been doing the Education Powwow for over fifteen years. “The two day powwow has about 2,000 students from local schools. The students have the opportunity to attend one of the four workshops and attend the powwow,” Smith said. “This year workshops were crafts, storytelling, regalia, everything you wanted to know about the Tribe, and lodge teachings.”
The powwow continues on Friday November 6 from 9am until 2pm at the Eagles Nest Tribal Gym. A full photo page and story will be featured in the December issue of the Tribal Observer.
