SCA shares their Educator/Student of the Month Celebrations 12-04-15
Joseph V. Sowmick - December 04, 2015
In an effort to provide bonus coverage, Team Observer went on location to the SCIT Tribal Library on Dec. 3 and the Saginaw Chippewa Academy on Dec. 4 as the SCIT Tribal Education Department announced the awards for SCA Educator of the Month and SCA Student of the Month. Tribal Education Director Melissa Montoya welcomed Tribal Chief Frank Cloutier as the Mino Ode Singers did a welcome and honor song and SCA Anishinabe Bimaadziwin Teacher Nathan Isaac shared a prayer to bless the breakfast.
“I appreciate all the hard work the students and teachers are doing at SCA and I’m honored to be here among our future leaders of our Tribe,” Chief Cloutier said. “Encouraging our Tribal students to get a good education starts here and it is a priority of mine to be there for the kids and their families.”
Congratulations and an Observer shout out goes to the following students who were recognized as the SCA Students of the Month: Pre-K Aubrey Pelcher, Kindergarten Nikki Jackson, 1st Grade Eva Reyes, 2nd Grade Kayana Pelcher, 3rd Grade Bela Magnell, 4th Grade Zoey Disel, 5th Grade Kenneth Wemigwans and 6th Grade Foster Crampton.
Zoey’s mom, Librarian Assistant Lee-Ann Disel, received the SCA Educator of the Month Award from Tribal Education Administrative Assistant II Christina Sharp and Chief Cloutier. The SCA Educator of the Month is an ongoing feature and Lee-Ann will be featured in the upcoming January 2016 issue of the Tribal Observer.
