Elvis' 81st Birthday Party at Andahwod
Joseph V. Sowmick - January 12, 2016
In an effort to provide bonus coverage, Team Observer was on location Jan. 8 with Andahwod Continuing Care & Elder Services and the SCIT Human Resources Training & Development Department to celebrate the 81st birthday of the “King of Rock and Roll.” Andahwod Administrative Assistant II Sheligh Jackson informs nine Elders competed for prizes and bragging rights as Human Resources Training Instructor John Gerhard and his Chinese daughter Yoyo tried to stump the Elders with music trivia.
“The Elders enjoyed the Name that Tune contests and they were split into three teams and got to choose their team names, Graceland, the Rascals and the Trump,” Jackson said. “The winning team was the Rascals consisting of Barb Sprague, Duane Pelcher, Marilyn Bailey and Dorothy Smith. John and Yoyo did an excellent job with the game and even though some of the music, other than the Elvis songs, were hard to guess, all the Elders did receive a prize in the end.”
The Elders also had a bounty consisting of some of the King’s favorite food (pretzels, cake, chicken wings, fried pickles and his signature favorite, peanut butter and ‘nanner samwiches). A full story will be featured on the Andahwod page in the February edition of your Tribal Observer.
