SCA Student of the Month Celebration 5-5-16

In an effort to provide bonus coverage, Team Observer joined the Saginaw Chippewa Academy students, teachers and families at their April 2016 Student of the Month Celebration.  SCA Anishinabe Biimaadziwin Teacher James Day gave a welcome address and recognized family, friends and community members along with Tribal Council members in attendance.

 

The Mino Ode Singers offered a welcome song and an Honor Song for the following student recipients:  Pre-K Aiyana Sheahan, Kindergarten Sadie Disel, 1st Grade Kiley Nicholson, 2nd Grade Maiingan Miller-Hosler, 3rd Grade Raynah Perez, 4th Grade Calijah Trepanier, 5th Grade Aaron Montoya-Pego and 6th Grade Mana Pelcher.  Day presented the students with their gift bags and certificates and spoke about the positive contributions the students have been making culturally and academically at SCA.  

 

The celebration concluded with a blessing for the gathering and breakfast from SCA Anishinabe Biimaadziwin Teacher Joe Syrette in Anishnaabemowin.
