Behavioral Health Open House & BBQ Offers Family Fun 9-2-16

Prevention Coordinator Jennifer Crawford watched as the youth enjoyed the bouncy houses and offered a big thank you to everyone who came out to the Behavioral Health Open House and Family BBQ.

“Most of all, I would like to thank the community for coming out and supporting our AISM events.  A special thank you to our staff who provided wonderful information regarding the services that we provide, tours of the facility, and an amazing cook-out by the Ricketts featuring ribs and chicken,” Crawford said.  “Also, thanks to Luke Sprague and the SCIT Recreation team for providing a fun activity and the prize for the Soaring Eagle Waterpark, ALRD for the really fun language game, Niijkewehn Mentoring Program for setting up a bake sale with yummy treats, and Planning for setting up a booth with great environmental information!”

 

 Prevention Specialist “Chef” Ricketts has manned the grill for many Tribal events and programs and said the hot August heat didn’t affect the outcome of a great event.  “We had lots of people that showed up to observe our facility and the many programs we offer.   At the same time, they got to enjoy some great food and community fellowship,” Ricketts said.  “I am really looking forward to next year and, if I might say so, the ribs were delicious!”

 

The next scheduled events for AISM take place on August 16 at the Soaring Eagle Hideaway RV Park from 11am to 3pm.  The Nimkee Public Health Department along with the Healthy Start Program will be having a “Celebrating Fathers” family picnic with swimming, boating and language plinko.  The August 17 AISM event will debut its first ever “Cupcake Wars” at the Eagles Nest Tribal Gym from 1 to 3pm.  The cupcake decorating contest will feature three age divisions for kids ages K – 12 (cupcakes and decorations provided).
