The sizzling summer stampede thrilled the crowd as Super Kicker Rodeo results were tabulated by staffer Angie Lauer. “Matt Ford took the trophy belt buckle for the Bareback Riding competition with76 points with Joe Corville placing a close second with a score of 74. In the Bull Riding event, John Braska posted a winning score of 85 to take first place while Jake Farris finished second with an 82 and Nick Nagy took third with 80 points,” Lauer said. “Braska has rode in the Professional Bull Riders circuit and has been riding professionally since he was doing 4H when he was 14. The Delton, Mich. native has developed quite a following and his appearance with the Super Kicker Rodeo was a highlight of the competition.”
In the Team Roping event, Lauer reports Tye Casey and Randy Mayger took first place honors with Cash Shegan and Cale Johnson in second and Colton Bugis and Dusty Link posting a third place team finish. In the Barrel Racing timed event, Cowgirl Randi Hall was top of the field with 15.376 seconds closely followed by second place winner Kelly Matthews at 15.545 and Brandy Krupila in third at 15.61.
The “Dirt, Spurs & Thrills” events ended with SCIT Tribal Member Leo Pego announcing the car-crunching action at the July 4 Demolition Derby followed by the spectacular Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort “Fireworks Celebration.” “The ‘Dirt, Spurs & Thrills’ events has something for everyone to enjoy for the holiday weekend and our friends from Wolverine Fireworks did a wonderful job with displays on July 2nd and 3rd and the massive display that was one of the biggest in the Midwest,” Public Relations Director Erik Rodriguez said. “SECR Director of Marketing Raul Venegas and the SECR Marketing staff put together a world class weekend for the patrons and their families. Raul mentions that Wolverine Fireworks will be back to do another spectacular that will coincide with the Saginaw Chippewa Powwow weekend July 29-31.”
