Joseph V. Sowmick - October 04, 2016
Team Observer is looking at the bountiful harvest that awaits you at the Native Farmers Market on October 4. A veritable cornucopia of fresh vegetables, fruits, homemade desserts, pies and other goodies await you as you get your plans set for lunch. As the leaves are changing colors, a wealth of organic and homegrown produce is ready for you and your family.
Tribal musician Delmar Jackson, Jr. has his guitar and is offering songs to shop by and our own Nimkee Nutritionist Sally Van Cise is roasting carrots and is offering free samples with a roasted squash hummus (insert yummy sounds hereJ)!
Nimkee Public Health Educator and REACH Grant Coordinator Brandon Schultz gives all the thanks to the vendors and the community for being so supportive of the Native Farmers Market this season.
“It has been a busy summer on the corner of Leaton and Broadway and we will be wrapping it up on Oct. 11. If you have been meaning to make it over or you haven’t been over since early in the season our vendors will here from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m.,” Schultz said. “You may not be able to buy happiness, but when people come out to the Native Farmers Market and buy local it gives you a similar feeling. Our farmers will be bringing in the fall harvest, so come and get it while you can.”
If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, the Native Farmers Market will be open until 2pm today and next week so come out of see what down home freshness they have to offer!
