About $4 million was allocated to local governments, municipalities and area schools during the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan’s semiannual 2 percent disbursement process.
Of that amount officially distributed on May 22 at Tribal Operations, about $2.1 million went to Isabella County, while Mt. Pleasant Public Schools received $1.2 million for 135 individual projects.
The 15th Annual Human Race will take place June 14 at the Elijah Elk Cultural Center on the Isabella Reservation. The event is sponsored by the Seventh Generation Program, as well as the Nimkee Memorial Wellness Center’s Public Health and Fitness Center programs.
Saginaw Chippewa Tribal members now have the opportunity to purchase Soaring Eagle concert tickets the day before they go on sale to the general public.
Members—including Elders—may purchase up to 12 tickets per show.
Family Fun Day “Honoring Our Elders” is scheduled to take place at The Hill on June 22 at 12 p.m.
Lunch will be served from noon to 2 p.m. Classes include Family Sharing with Wilma Henry at 1 p.m. and Cultural Teaching with Shannon Martin at 2 p.m.
