The presence of contaminants in water does
not necessarily indicate the water poses a health
risk. The EPA or the state requires us to monitor
for certain contaminants less than once per
year because the concentrations of these contaminants
do not change frequently. The table below lists
all the drinking water contaminants we detected
during the 1998 calendar year.
Terms and Abbreviations
used below:
• MCLG (Maximum Contaminant Level
Goal): The level of a contaminant in
drinking water below which there is no known
or expected risk to health. MCLGs allow for
a margin of safety.
• MCL (Maximum Contaminant Level):
The highest level of a contaminant that is allowed
in drinking water. MCLs are set as clonse to
the MCLGs as feasible using the best available
treatment technology.
• AL (Action Level): The
concentration of a contaminant which, if exceeded,
triggers treatment or other requirements which
a water system must follow.

How can I get involved?
We encourage the local Saginaw Chippewa Indian
Tribe members to become more involved in tribal
water issues. If you are are tribal member,
please join us for our monthly Utility meetings,
held at 10:00 a.m. on the first Monday of each
month at the Wastewater Plant.
