Language Classes - Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6 pm to 7 pm Wednesday 12 noon to 1 pm
Resource Center – Anishinaabemdaa Language Center has language resources and tools to help promote Anishinaabemowin to Sasiwaans parents and to the Saginaw Chippewa Community.
Language Classes – Open to community: parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, brothers, sisters, friends and families.
Translations – The language specialist is a Fluent Speaker who does translations in many different areas. They range from prayers, to commands, names of places, common action verbs, events, or spirit names. This is not limited to just these.
The Anishinaabemdaa Language Center has materials that can assist you in language acquisition.
- there are Consonant – Vowel syllable and sound charts available.
- vocabulary written in the double vowel system.
- written vocabulary on various common topics: trees, body, shapes, greetings, conversational words, commands, negative commands, numbers, food, eating, family, feelings, hygiene, household, outdoor activities, sports, crafts, games, events like Christmas, directional, animals, and so forth.
- Card Masters on site (a multi-sensory approach to pronounciation, intonation and articulation of Anishinaabemowin sounds, words and phrases).
The Outreach Language Specialist uses various techniques to assist second language learners in learning how to master Anishinaabemowin. People learn in different ways. Some learn through visual, others learn through written and still others learn through hearing and speaking. Others learn through a combination of these.
