STARKEY, RICHARD J., age 60, of Shepherd, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 19,
2024, at his home.
Funeral Services for Richard will take place on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Gym with Greg Mandoka officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Following the burial, a luncheon will take place at the Tribal Gym. The family will receive friends on Monday, beginning at 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the gym. Memorial contributions may be made to the family, checks may be made payable to Stephanie Spanne.
Richard was born September 25, 1964, in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, the son of Olin and Artina
(Jackson) Starkey. He was a graduate of Chippewa Hills High School and served in the U.S. Army.
Richard married Lisa Faye Mandoka July 25, 1988. He was a proud member of the Saginaw
Chippewa Indian Tribe. Richard always loved life and his family and community surrounding him.
He was great at building things, very smart and a hands-on guy. Richard liked singing and playing
guitar and drums. :
Richard is survived by his wife Lisa Starkey of Shepherd; daughter Stephanie (John) Spanne of
Mt. Pleasant, Matthew Starkey of Alma; grandchildren Adrianna, Miingin, Aanzhenii, Jordan, and
Aaron; brothers Tony Starkey and Billy Jo (Mindy) Starkey; sisters Bobbie Jo Starkey, Tina
Howard, Judy (Steve) Johnson, Laurie Jackson; and many other extended family and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; and brother Mark Starkey.

Richard was a Veteran.
