Strangulation, Sexual Assault Investigation and Forensic Nursing Presentation

 On Tuesday May 17th, the Victims of Crime Program conducted a Strangulation, Sexual Assault Investigation and Forensic Nursing presentation to several Alma College Nursing students and two new Tribal Police Department officers. Mandy Wigren, Tribal Victim/Witness Coordinator, lead the presentation highlighting how law enforcement and nurses investigate strangulation and sexual assault cases. The attendees learned about strangulation symptoms and consequences and how thorough forensic nurse examinations are vital when investigating sexual assaults as well as strangulation cases. The Alma College nursing cohort is finishing up a four week clinical rotation at Nimkee Clinic and attended the presentation as a part of their public safety rotation.
