History of the Badge
In 1998 the Tribal Police received
a new badge as a symbol of their service and commitment to
the Tribal community. It is a gold knight's shield topped
with a ruby eyed eagle. The shield represents protection,
value, and authority of the officer. A ruby's protective
powers are enhanced when set in jewelry and worn over the
left breast.
The draped US Flag next to the Tribal Seal represents
the closeness of a sovereign nation within the federal
nation. The warrior staff's seven eagle feathers are the
highest honor, and also represent the seven clans that make
up the Chippewa.
It symbolizes strength, courage, and skill. Background rays
of light represent new horizons and the cycle of life. The warriors
in the canoe symbolizes the voyage and tradition of the Chippewa
people through time.
The badge is worn with pride and dedication for the people
of the community.
